Hi, I am seeking some clarification on an issue: I got a letter with my tax return which said that I was deemed a NON redsident for tax purposes. This did not happen last year. I reveive LAFHA - Does that mean that I am a non-resident for tax purposes?

Have you asked the ATO?

LAHFA is to do with living away from home, and is not necessarily related to moving from overseas - it could just as easily apply to moving inter-state.

I think you should look at LAHFA and "non-Resident for tax purposes" as two separate things and, as someone suggested, look up what non-resident means in terms of tax at the ATO's website ATO or give them a call.
