LAFHA- can someone check my figures?!
Hi all!
I am on a 457 visa & my employers have said that they will pay this allowance, but that i have to get an eligibility assessment to give them. The cost of this assessment being around $2200
Sooo, i've been trying to work out roughly how much i will save... Any second opinions would be great
My salary is $47,500 (without super) pa, $3958.33 pm. There will be 2 of us moving out to Oz.
Meal component according to ATO is $330 pw for 2 adults. Rent will be about $250pw based on lets i've seen, which totals $580pw, $2320pm tax free.
Working on 30% tax for the rest of my salary this will make my take home approx $3466.33 with LAFHA, whereas without it'd be $2770.83, therefore saving me £656 a month...
Is this correct?!

Mike.
Edit, I recently posted a spreadsheet on this thread that calculates take home pay from taxable pay. You may find it useful.

From what I know, as a 457 visa holder, there is minimum taxable salary you must have. I think the figure is approximately $42000. I could be wrong but do check with someone or read on the Australian taxation website.
