Gets stuff started. But why does it need a bloody whinger to do that at the moment?
There have been some posters who have started interesting threads with questions or knowledgable observations rather than what looks like ignorant prejudice.

To pick up one of your points: Has anyone ever done a poll about the most popular place to settle in Oz?

Well I voted for I'm australian living in OZ and I dont mind Kong.
OK I've only just returned after 24 years living outside OZ and some of Kongs posts are a bit pointless, but generally speaking he gives (forcefully sometimes) the other side of the eqution but surely thats what this forum is about - positive and negative. It obviously didnt work for him and I think he condemns everybody to the same bad experiences as he must have had. But for some thats unfortunately just exactly what they will experience
Would be nice though if just ONCE he posted a positive story about his time in OZ - It cant have been ALL bad cant it ???? ???? Plus it would make his negative stories more believable
From a personal perspective, If you had spoken to me in the first 3-4 years after we left OZ you would have believed Scotland was the "arse end of the planet" cos I was so homesick and miserable but now I have very good memories of scotland, and all the other places I've lived and worked in, in between. It takes time to appreciate a country and settle in and I'm not sure Kong gave OZ the necessary amount of time, but I will defend to the end his right to "slag" it off BASED ON HIS PERSONAL EXPERIENCES.

The whole thing said
"Magic doesn't work in this new place
Native poetry has lost rhythm and rhyme
Familiar food is labelled a curiosity
And hostile stares replace familial love
To be an immigrant
Is to be solitary in the midst of millions"
Whoever said it first - thanks!!!

Agree with all that, did you find it as difficult to resetlle in Oz or was it more of a homecoming?
