As far as i am aware, Koalas cannot transmit STDs to humans. They do carry a range of STDs, the most common being chlamydia, which can be lifethreatening if you are small cute and furry.

Lots of them do suffer from chlamydia (have I spelt that right?), but its quite safe to be near them (so I've been told) cos its a sexually transmitted disease - so unless you have a desire to be intimate with a koala I guess you are OK!!

I'm sure someone will be quick to correct me if I'm wrong!

Darling, unless you are in a wildlife park under controlled conditions you shouldn't go near a koala anyway - they are wild creatures and will do you serious damage if you try and pick one up. Plus of course, and I think I quote Prince Philip here, 'they are pissy little things". As someone who has held a koala in a wildlife park I can vouch for that! adelaidegirl
