There are no Koala's in WA, so don't go to Perth expecting to find a couple in the back yard. You will however see them at most wildlife parks, zoos etc. I lived in Queensland for ten years or so and probably saw about three or four in their natural habitat.

Saw some in more rural suburbs in NSW - well they were pretty high up but faily sure they were Koala's

Our friends were telling us that there are lots in areas on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. And sure enough there was. A lovely camp site called 'Camping Under Koalas' had them all around.

We had one come to play in our garden the other day. Stayed for a good half an hour, running around like a dog - which was pretty amazing really. It let me get really close to it too, although it was very smelly. Didn't seem bothered by me at all. Scratched the hell out of my kid's slide trying to climb up it though. Bit surreal really!

our estate is built in a koala habitat with apparently a dozen or so resident, only had one in the garden (photo) and hard to find if your looking for them, unlike the wallabies that are runing around every dusk

We often go to Coombabah Reserve on the Gold Coast and have seen them there. More Kangas than you can shake a stick at too.

Koalas....my fav!

Saw my first wild one in Noosa Nat Park. My friend said I was guaranteed to see one and she was right. Although we think the rangers put one up on a branch overhanging the path way on purpose :D

Next one seen was down the Gt Ocean Road - seems about the best place to see them.

There are some down on the Peninsula where we live, know a few people have seen them around the Arthurs Seat area and we had Koala signs round where we lived in Mt Martha but never saw one....:(

If you want a good place to see Koalas in captivity and get to cuddle one then the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brissie was excellent.

It depends where you live. In the Bayside area in Brisbane they are pretty common. I see one most weeks and if I felt like it I could see one every day. However, 5 years in Sydney and I didn't see a single one in the wild.

There is one in my spare bedroom, but he pays no rent and I'm always picking up after him. He is cute though.

Live and let live though, my wife says the same about me.....

I'm in Melbourne and I know when we visited Phillip Island for the Penguins we visited a sanctuary on the way, lots of Koala's and Kangaroo's, if you are this way let me know and I'll dig out the name of the sanctuary for you :)

My back garden regularly. Sorry about the focus on the one. Husband forgot to change the camera settings  We had one at school on Friday, one of the teachers picked him and brought him into the common room. He was quite relaxed waiting for the animal rescue guy. Photos are at school though. I'll getting copies on Monday.

We saw lots on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria too. I think it was near either the Wye or Kennett river. There is a camp site and cafe with Koala in the title and they can be seen sleeping and eating in the trees over the roads. The golf course at Anglesea near The Great Ocean Road always has loads of wild kangaroos too.
