Re: Knickers and shoes
I'm one of the ausie shop moaners but will not get defensive or start arguing  if you know of places please let me know and I can stop moaning!
My gripe is mainly style related rather than quality it must be said, and I agree that its the middle bit thats missing, Zara, Mango, Warehouse etc |

I have a collection of 20 or 30 pairs of cufflinks and will not wear standard cuff for work. There is little availability but DJs in town is a bit better than Myer, especially if you are looking for different sleeve lengths (i.e. longer or shorter arms) I'll remember the tip about DJs, thanx! :) Hevs, not pink, just expensive yuppy shirts ;) . |
Re: Knickers and shoes
I prefer the women not to wear knickers at all

[QUOTE=nickyc]Let’s just set the record straight here. All Australian women do not walk around in baggy undies or wear plastic shoes. It’s not hard to find decent quality underwear and leather shoes.
Hi Didn't buy any knickers whilst i was out there so can't comment but got some brill shoes and clothes been wearing em in uk all summer. Didn't pay a lot for em the shoes were from target! Kay |

If the elastic goes immediately on the knickers you wear or you can only find plastic shoes in the shops then I would suggest that the shops you are using are – er - a little downmarket. KMart might be good for car oil or kids toys but you’re not supposed to buy your shoes there (even if they do sell them). It’s possible to get cheap and nasty clothes and shoes in the UK and they're also readily available in most KMarts in Australia (and Best & Less and Big W). Like most places if you pay cheap you get cheap. Rarely spend more than $100 on a pair of shoes and have never, ever in my whole life bought any not made from leather. Leather shoes in your standard High Street shoe shop seem to be around the 50 pound mark so I don’t see that $100 is extortionately more expensive. Wouldn’t know where to find a pair of non-leather shoes here. Which shoe shops sell them? Also never had a problem with my knickers falling down. And neither will anyone who buys a decent brand - which means avoiding those cheap ones at the supermarket. :) |
Re: Knickers and shoes
Hi there,
Louisa here, havent spoken to you before but happened to read about knickers. I have heard from four different people that M & S are opening in Melbourne. Doesnt help me any coz I live on the Gold Coast, but maybe once one M & S is here, others will follow. Hubby and I order our undies from M&S and my darling sister sends them to us, how sad is that. Regards for now, :) Louisa |

Re: Knickers and shoes
When I was in Oz on holiday I bought a really nice pair of leather shoes, for a good price. Didn't need to get any knickers thoughI will have to wait for that experience when I move out there. Maybe stock up in Marks before I go lol. :) ;)

Re: Knickers and shoes
It may be just me, but my aussie wife has a thing about throwing out my undies and socks if they have holes in them, so sorry I cannot comment on the longevity of australian underwear.
Before I married an aussie however, I had UK underwear that was still serviceable after 10 years continuous wear :scared: |
Re: Knickers and shoes
LOL I through my hubby's undies out when the elastic starts to sag a bit - I just don't tell him, just replace them with new ones, which he thinks is great. :)
