Thankfully nothing like this has happend to me yet. I'm extra cautious when I go out.
The worst time for a kite surfer is when they are on land, and in this case it sounds like he was flying the kite directly overhead, which is another big no-no.
Despite all the recent accidents it is a fantastic sport and I would recommend it to anyone. Just make sure you get lessons with a recognised school and follow all the safety precautions.

My hubby does kite buggying, he loves it, hes looking forward to getting time to do it more when we get to NZ, its a very hard sport, ive seen what can happen if the wind get up too quick or if he looses his concetration ( HeeHee ) oops
I can understand the oap's just tie a kite to their wheelchair when they aint looking, and just wait for them to take off ...oops

Wouldnt ever stop him kiteing and i enjoy watching them all buggying on the beach its fun, but i dont like getting " involved " so much !
But its a good sport and one that keeps ya fit especially if you aint got a buggy, or harness, you can run a marathon holding on to them kites !
