Hello,

I haven't built anything but have been researching for 2 years!

I found this site useful when doing my research. http://www.completehome.com.au

The kithomes seem to be dependent on State and this site lists which kithome companies are based in which state.

For land of course try www.domain.com.au and www.realestate.com.au

My personal favourite is http://www.storybook.com.au/storybookbrochure.pdf.

If you are based in Sydney there is a self build information centre too who will be able to give you lots of info: http://www.sydneybuildinginformationcentre.com.au/

There is also a kithome magazine available in most newagents.

Hope that helps, Chrissie

If you can afford it...renovate an existing older home. They have heaps of character. Kithomes are a bit sad and tend to be characterless, bland things. YUK!

Just get some good advice before buying/renovating. You don't want to spend money on doing up parts of the property that won't actually add value when/if it comes time to sell,eg, don't go doing a $20,000 bathroom reno when half the price will do. More important to open it up, let in light extend yard, add a driveway and design a garden. Also a good kitchen is a major work worth doing.

They don't look bland, we're thinking of extending so I might pop out for that mag.
Thanks Hels and Chrissie.
