Kingaroy, Queensland
 

Does anyone live in Kingaroy or have any info about this town. We have 2 children ages 9 & 11 and want to get as much info as we can on this town before we consider it an option to move to.

I'm about an hr from Kingers, I go there shopping, and have some very good friends there. They love it.

I like it but wouldn't want to live there, no particular reason, just doesn't "grab" me.

Has all the basics. Several very good wineries, lovely sceneary, if you want to live out of town.

And only 1 hour away from me, what more could you want!

Bit sleepy, might be OK when the kids are little but as teenagers I think they'd struggle.





Oh if there are now signs around the place saying No Entry for Poms, then its all my fault :lol:

Husband has job offer in Cherbourg. Kingaroy looks like it has all that we need, re schools, amenities etc. Can you tell.... is there only one public swimming pool ? And where in that area there are good places to go swimming ?

My predjudiced and preconceived idea of the place is it is probably the most fascist part of the entire country ? You know Sir Joh and all that. Is it ?

I wonder if the term "feeding the chooks" means anything to anyone on here ?

I would expect I'd be hated more for being from Victoria than for Being a Pom though around those parts ?

Cherbourg? Is he a police officer or an indigenous affairs officer?
Murgon, Wondai & Goomeri all have pools though they may not be open all year.

Kingaroy is O.K as a country town. The pub we use is quite posh with excellent food. There's a lot of country farmer types with a few dollars. I find the people friendly polite & down to earth.
Never found out their political views, didn't your dad tell you "never discuss politics or religion in the pub"

Cherbourg! Definitely go for Kingers not Cherbourg. Our pool is only open 6 months (really pisses me off) so I'd assume it's the same.

We nearly moved there a few years ago. I had an offer of a job building planes in Kingers. I told the boss that I was having a hard time convincing my wife that Kingaroy wasn't 'Hicksville'. his reply was "We are not Hicksville, we've even got a Mcdonalds now!" :blink:

We decided to move to Melbourne instead! :thumbsup:

I guess it all depends what you are looking for then huh. Living away from a city, with a quieter life, around friendly people sounds good to us :) And besides its got so much around that we will be taking full advantage of.... national parks/camping/beautiful beaches 3 hours away. Life is what you make it :D
