Smile Key Selection Criteria for a job application

Hi,

I've been asked to complete a form entitled "Key Selection Criteria" for an agency in response to me sending them a CV.

I haven't completed this kind of form before, and I was hoping someone could advise me.

It has a number of categories (eg - management of staff), and requires me to do 3 things with each category -

- List in bullet points experience doing each (do I just reformat my CV?)
- skill rating (why??? I'm not going to put "crap" am I?)
- years experience (OK I can do that).

Can anyone help me complete the form?

Thanks

Buzzy

Buzzy

The only experience I've had with this is helping a friend through hers in the last 12 months for administrative, clerical, call centre type postions.

I just googled (Aust. Google) the term 'example of key selection criteria form' and a number of universities and goverment sites had some information and tips for the process. Play around with the search query and you may find more.

They may be of some help to you until someone with first hand experience can offer their advice.

HTH.

Hi Buzzy,
Am a teacher and have completed many responses to key selection criteria. I have written them up in 'essay' style eg. paragraphs. Basically, I use examples of what I have done to evidence the key slection criteria. I have between 5 and 8 criteria for each post. I answer in qquite a lot of detail - citing relevant examples from experience in my current post and previous ones. Am sure this isn't much help, but if Ican help - feel free to ask more specific questions!

Like Bexie, I generally write quite a bit to address each of the selection criteria. According to people who I know who do interviews over here ( this is in nursing, so may be very different to your area ), they will base their shortlist on the selection criteria and also may come back to that and references, if there are a few close canditates after interview.

I have written how my experience fits in and try and give at least one example for each. Seems like a lot of work and you often appear to repeat yourself, but thats what they want. They don't seem so bothered about the C.V.

Hope it goes well.

They are the in thing Yawn for most jobs now, you can even take courses in filling them out, total pain in the arse and even pathetic paid jobs which require basic simple skills often require them. For a professional job allow a few days to prepare one

I'm surprised Buzzy. In my experience, professional jobs are gotten by CV, agents and interview. In IT, CV is all you really need, and an agent that likes you.

It's only the more admin/ public sector jobs which tend to be more anal about criterion.

I was surprised too mate. This is a job for a data network specialist, and not with a public sector employer.

Oh well, nothing ventured.....

I applied for an IT position at some hospital (something like that it was years ago when we first moved here) and one of the questions asked me about my love and devotion to Jesus Christ, WTF !

I don't remember what I put now but I think it involved some kind of animal sacrifice, didn't get the job funny that

This is right. A brief paragraph for each criteria point.

I have a load of stuff for this, but it's all in hard copies I'm afraid. Having had a quick rummage through it, here are a couple of useful URLs:

Iniversity of Queensland

Queensland Government treasury

Hope they help!
