Just a point...
Couple of days ago, i posted a news article, and made specific mention to the fact it was from another site, and named the site, and gave the link. I also pointed it out it wasnt mine..
Therefore lies the problem. It was removed.
No big deal, but cpl of questions ...
Most websites, on internet are copyright, and reproduction in whole or part of the site, is construed as breach of copyright. This also pertains to the url. So posting links, can also be in breach..
Many images on here are also, from other sites, this also, infringes copyright.
Ive rea forum rules, and am under the impression, that unless the site from whence orinal copy material was taken, offered such material, within the public domain, providing such material wasnt adapted or rendered as original to a n other author, then that was ok.
On further investigation, having looked at the news article i placed, the originator was reuters. Not the site I had mentioned, so where do we draw the line lol
Baffled !

There is one thing that I think be should do though with regard to this site and its rules and that is to make any posts, threads or indeed blogs their property once posted. there are several reasons for this, probably not worth discussing but I often wonder why they dont.

OK - under the law - links are fine... there was a case in the states a couple of years back where one of the big media companies attempted to stop people linking to them. The case failed. Copying text off sites though, is a breach of copyright - the standard form is to write a small description of the specific text and then link to it, but it is okay to quote small sections of it as long as you credit the original source.
All that said - this is a privately run site and the admins can basically enforce any rule they fancy and there's sweet FA anyone can do about it. Nothing to do with your original post TFA, but it always makes me laugh when people talk about 'freedom of speech' on this site - it's a private site, you have freedom to do precisely as much or as little as the admins decree.
