Well done...

Is it really cheaper if you build your own...What sort of budget are you working with....sorry to be nosey..??? But I quite like the idea of a self build..

I don't think it will be cheaper than an already estabished house but after being here for a year we spent months looking at different areas and already houses/showhouses in the end we just liked the idea of getting somewhere that would really be ours.It is something we would have not been able to do in UK well not in the area we were from anyway. The block cost us $168,000 but there are plenty of places where you can buy cheaper blocks it's just we loved Mount Martha and were prepared to pay more to be near beach, good schools, shops etc the house itself will cost $157,000 base then extras to add on so im guessing it will be $200,000 by the time we finish. We haven't choose the area or the house with the view of making a profit (maybe wrongly?) but just as somewhere we really like and could see ourselves spending a good few years hopefully!

We have been told it should be Febuary start date which means house will be ready around October time which suits us well as my son is at kinder and I would like him to nearly finish the term before we move.We live 20 mins away from the area we are moving to so it will all be like starting over again but im confident it will be just fine.Where are you building?

Good luck to you also!

Congratulations! We just heard today that the sellers of the block we're after won't come anywhere near our third offer, so it's back to the drawing board!

We’re building at Jacobs Ridge, Ormeau which is about halfway between the Gold Coast and Brisbane. We have chosen our house design and will be meeting with our builder tomorrow (Richards Homes) to get a draft quote, and hopefully construction will get underway sometime in January.

Like you, we spent many months looking at established homes, and decided that to get exactly what we wanted, we would have to build.

I didn't realise you were in Patterson lakes we were in Chelsea for eight weeks.

They're showing Charlie and the chocolate factory tonight on a big screen on our estate with a free bbq, shame it looks like it's going to chuck it down

How does it feel now having your own bit of OZ. Well the top layer anyhow

I reckon that you have a great spot. Place that I could have settled in easily...
