You are only 10 mins to quieter areas such as Narrabeen and Collaroy and 30 mins to Bobbin Head. We need to be near Pittwater Rd as I need to commute to CBD on a daily basis.
What areas would you recommend for a family (3 kids), I dont want to jump into things and regret at a later date.. Thanks again We did the same at Manly by choosing Queenscliff, which was slighty cheaper and quieter and in my opinion nicer. It was still close enough that you could walk down and enjoy the shops, bars and restaurants. I'm not sure where to recommend for a 3 kid family with an easy commute to the cbd. When we discovered that we were going to become parents, we decided to move and looked at Harbord, Warriewood, Narrabeen, Mona Vale and eventually settled on Avalon. I don't have to go in to the city often so the commute wasn't an issue. I would say that renting for at least the first 6 months is best as you can then get a feel for the places, but would alos mean a possible uproot within a year. It's certainly easier for us without kids I suppose. |

Hello all, Spoke to brother in law yesterday they have just put an offer in on a place in Warriewood. As i said before they have lived in Harbord Dee Why and Manly (which i forgot about). They dont have any children yet, but are hoping to start a family real soon. They liked Harbord but chose Warriewood to get a little more for there money, and said if you moved straight from UK to Dee Why you probably wouldn't notice it being a little rough around the edges, its only when you have explored the other areas that you get a feel for how things are. I Cant wait to go now! We are waiting for CO to request Bond (please make it soon) lol.

Hi
my school friend has lived in Harbord for 25 yrs(she married an Aussie). When I visited her last year we went to a lovely restaurant overlooking the beach area in DY,they reckoned it was cheaper than eating out in Manly. Saturday morning she took me shopping to the market in DY . Her view on DY is similar to the other posters, she wouldn't want to live there but there are things in DY that are cheaper than Manly or Harbord . The local beach, Freshwater bay, had good surfing and was minutes away from her house. One of her daughters is a qualified life saver there, both her girls went to school in Harbord area and their friends seemed very polite. It's possible to commute from Harbord. My friend worked in the city until last summer so caught the bus or Manly ferry, she now works locally and walks to work. Good luck with your move. Helen |
