Can you be more specific.

Do you mean travel, or do you want a life lesson, like say from here you go to the job centre and find work

You question is a bit vague sorry

If you ask a detailed question im sure you will get an answer, good luck

The beach is nice (if it is still there after the recent storms?).

Noosa (Heads) is just up the road from you and definitely worth a visit.

Is Jono still the lifeguard there ? Spent a few months in Mooloolaba 10 years ago and he was a legend back then.

Doesn't answer the question, but what is the question ?

It's a beautiful day today, the sun is shining and the Roo's are hopping.

At the age of 17 presumably he will be trying to get into the pubs to meet other teenagers!

Get him involved in Surf Lifesaving or similar.

Try the skate parks there's defo one quite nearby... our 15 yr old was bored rigid until we bought him a board... (stuck with 2 'oldies' too!)

He had no probs meeting other kids at the skate park... best investment we made! He also loved surf lessons and that was a really good way to meet new people too...

We didn't stay too long there as we thought it a bit 'small' to keep him amused. Hervey Bay was excellent though as was Airlie Beach.... We travelled around quite a bit to keep him amused more than us!

Are you on holiday, or have you moved?

If you've moved there, and he has finished school, I suspect he'll have to get a job or pal up with some neighbour's kids to meet others. Try asking the locals. What are his interests? Take him to see some sights and some wildlife. Go 4WDing. Can he join some sort of swimming club? As others have said he might be able to learn to surf, snorkel or dive if you can afford it, or join surf lifesavers if you're staying. It depends on his nature but that's what my 17yo would be doing.

If you're on holiday you might just have to find out what he thinks is exciting and go with him. Keeps you young.

thanks for the info. We have moved to mooloolaba. We have joined a gym, but want to get him into outdoor activities. Is the lifesaving expensive. Hoping to get him a surf lesson tomorrow. We have just arrived two weeks ago and its been shopping for furniture and cars all the way, so hes fed up and bored.

He could also go for his driver's (or motorbike) license, and then he'd be able to take himself around. Stress the importance of getting a job re meeting new friends and finding out where to hang out. I think this is the reason our 17 yo won't come with us.

My Oh and I are pommy born, but in NZ at present. I've lived in Melbourne as a kid, but we are looking to move to Brisbane or Hervey Bay in January. Doing the reccie in June, but big son won't come as friends and girlfriends are too important. His Dad and I had left home by his age so we have to let that go and hope he'll come out for a visit and decide to stay.

Seriously, though I hope your son settles once he gets involved in life and finds friends. Maybe a TAFE course would be good if he doesn't know what to do. A driver's license definitely gives them independence though.
