Just arrived in Brisbane – Bayside – general Q
Hello to all. This is my first post here, I’ve been reading lots here while planning the trip, and now we’re here I thought I’d post up. Moved from NW London to Brisbane just over 2 weeks ago, and having a good start to our new life. Within that time we’ve sorted out renting a nice house in Birkdale, bought the car and hubby has just secured a job, so that’s a huge relief.
We ummed and arrd for ages about going, finally we sold our flat and decided it was now or never. The leaving was horrible, I still feel sick when I think of my family and the goodbyes. But we’re here now and making the most of things.
I’m looking into childcare at the moment here in Birkdale or Capalaba for when I start part time work, or mother & toddler groups to take my 2 ½ year old son to. Does anyone know of any or can recommend any to me?
We have just seen 2 female redback spiders on our outside wall, so that has scared me a bit. Does anybody recommend a good pest specialist who deals with them? Bit of a worry as my little boy love sticking his fingers in dark holes!!! Looked in yellow pages – but always good to be recommended.
That’s all – if anybody is around the Bay area, drop a post, be nice to hear about your time here.

I can't answer any of your questions, but we are hoping to be in Birkdale next year with our 4 year old and 18 month little boy. Can you let me know what the area is like and how you find the child care as that is something I will be looking at when we get there and like you a recommendation would be great.
