Junk on my computer!!! tdak.com?

.

I've posted this/my question on the feedback room as well, but I thought I'd post it here too, in case any of you know the answer to this, or have had similar problems:

Hi,
I don't know if you'll know the answer to this... but here goes:
Have you heard of tdak.com ??

I seem to be picking up this program while surfing the net, I'm getting it from some web site I'm visiting... which one I don't know. But it seems it's only happened since I've joined this site, maybe just coincidence.

what it does is take over your computer... actually put's folders in your favourites, plonks their own search engine on you. The folders/links they plonked on me were gambling, Adult , etc etc. ... Not happy Jan!
I've had to install zone alarm/protection... go into my computer and delete the registry of this tdak. I looked at my History just now.. and yes there it was again... tdak.com. But they can't hack into my computer anymore like they did, and put folders into my favourites... I've blocked them plonking stuff on me and pop up banners everywhere.

Anyway, I'm picking it up from somewhere... and today, I know what sites I've visited, this site, and my fishing web site, plus the BBC and the QLD tourist board site... I doubt very much if it's the Beeb or Tourist board... so I'm left with this site and the fishing web site

Have you heard of Tdak.com.? .. because I'm getting mad at these people for putting their sh*t on my computer...I don't have kids, but it annoys me for them to put a folder in my favourites with Adult porn links on it!! It annoys me full stop to put anything on my computer without my permission.

just wondering if you or anyone has heard of this tdak.com?? grrrrr

cheers

P.S... just found out it's spy ware, and ad ware... one is lop.com, is one of the offenders.. and tdak. Planting spy ware

don't know if I've picked it up from this site, or another site... because I keep getting pop up banners while visiting here.
I've got to now go and purchase Pest control now to get rid of this rubbish!

I used to get that problem (ie rogue websites putting unwanted favourites onto my pc etc) and upgraded to Windows 2000 Professional - no more problem as it stops this happening.

apparently, and I'm no expert by any means.. certain companies/people, will plant their "spy ware" cookie which monitors where you go on the net. Spy ware, different to Ad ware.
Anyway unless you totally reformat your drive... it's very hard to get rid of the spy ware.. "They" hide it.. maybe under a different name in the registry.

I 've just purchased (today), because of this, I downloaded a program which scans your drives looking for these Pests, plus the viruses, gets rid of them.... and alerts me if any site attempts to do this again... "Zone Alarm", and "Pestpatrol"... cost me bl**dy 70 dollars! ...

Anyway it found around 20 Spy and adware on my computer... and one "worm" virus in outlook express... which of course is more serious than the ad and spy ware (certain worms depending on the worm, can destroy your hard drive). I did not know I had the worm, and have not got a clue where and who sent me the worm. (they are normally sent in email attachments unwittingly.. maybe even from your family). All are now removed

it's bl**dy annoying if you ask me... I feel like punching these little sh*ts in the head!! :D

Anyway... I found two of the major culprits, and apparently they are well known programs/companies for doing this... one is lop com (do not go to this site .. what ever you do!!!!) their page is a search engine , but while you're there.. you'll end up getting this spyware planted on you without you knowing, you'll never know you've got it... but you are being monitored. The other is tdak com... but this is AD ware.... pop up banners everywhere.

Cheers :)

Adaware from Lavasoft is a good piece of software to stop spyware.

Be careful with blocking cookies though. If you're too over zealous, you won't be able to log on to many sites (including this one) and you may end up seeing a pop-under on every page. Usually you will see one pop-under every 12 hours, but if you haven't accepted a cookie, the ad server will think you haven't seen an ad and keep sending them.
