Just wondered how many if any of you, emailed your CV, set up interviews before you went/while you were on a rekkie trip and got a job offer prior to moving to Oz??

Or did you circulate CV while on rekkie trip and got interviews etc etc??

Also just curious if you were successful what type of business are you in??

Any tips advice much appreciated!!

Depends if your a tradesman especialy electrical (impossible) - ive stopped trying until i get over there, its a nightmare, probably u might be lucky

I've heard others say that anything more than 6 weeks before and nobody wants to know, although I agree that this depends what your profession is.

Thanks for the link very useful, I think tradesmen or alot of them need their licences before they can get work, fortunatly my OH isnt one!! Just thought there would be more people that had gone down this route, obviously wrong!!

Hi,

I sent off my CV(Nurse) and had a call within 3 hours!!! Bloody scared me i can tell you!!

Just used an on-line company and within a week had a telephone interview and got the job.

have to say its at a slightly lower level than here in the UK, but I decided it was probably better to have a job to go to and then apply for more appropriate jobs when i get there.

Good luck - - -they are out there!!!!

It depends on what you do, hubby is in a very specialised area so we had to get the job sorted before heading over. However if your line of work is more generic then I think that it is harder to get work without actually being there (obviously apart from areas of need ie nursing).
