Job for an an unemployed Banana ?
Now I know what Jill's like when she gets on here. You can't help yourself !! I don't think I have ever posted so much as to tonight - it must be the double whiskey and coke I've been drinking tonight !
Anyway, as I shall be venturing South in a few weeks I thought I'd try what many others have done and see if I could get some contacts for possible jobs ? I have started sending my resume off but have been careful not to go too far with applications just yet with me not knowing when I would eventually get out to be with the girls.
As some of you know, I have worked in the Food industry for about 15 years and have done various roles in the past, from being self employed as an Interim Consultant/General Manager at the moment, to being a Production Manager, Factory Manager or Operations Director. I would love to continue in this vain working for someone like Peters & Browne (ice cream and dairy) or any of the other dairies in Perth (I am currently working at one is Essex for my sins). I also have the opportunity to do something completely different using my skills and quals from across the years, don't know what yet, but I'm sure I'll know if it hits me between the eyes.
Anyway, if anyone knows anywhere which could be looking for somone then please let me know ? I don't mind starting at the bottom and working my way up again but it would be nice to be able to keep Jill and the Littl 'un in the style they have become accustomed ?
So if anyone has any contacts please PM me or send me an email.
Your help and support as always will be gratefully received.
Thanks in anticipation
Warren

While we're on, if anyone wants an IT bod (currently Systems Manager in a large private school but pretty much a Jack-of-all-trades IT-wise) then I'm availlable at short notice!

Re: Job for an an unemployed Banana ?
Warren,
Dont have any links to the food industry, sorry, but .....
have you tried using your UK industry links to connect to Australian branches of various companies
eg, Nestle is here in Perth, so if you know anybody in Nestle UK perhaps they could give you an introduction contact to Nestle Perth ???
Alternatively, if your skills are transferrable to outside the food industry, then I do know Fujitsu are looking for a management consultant, But you would need to have very strong IT skills.
Another alternative outside the food industry could be Lycopodium (Mining engineers). They are currently looking for people with strong business skills to strengthen their management team cos they have just recieved a couple of really large design and construction projects. I know from having spoken to some of the management team there that previous mining experience is not essential if you have the right business skill set.
Anyway will keep all ears open for opportunities for you
