Especially while searching for jobs when not in Australia

I'd treat seek with a degree of caution. At least as far as believing it indicates the jobs presently vacant. Some have already been taken and others were not really 'vacant' in the first place, as were filled from internal sources. The were obliged to advertise under policy to search externally but only for policy.

That's perhaps true in some instances, but it's still the biggest job search site in Oz.

OP, unfortunately I think it's quite unlikely that you'll secure a job from overseas, particularly as you don't currently hold a valid visa for Australia.

Although it has its fault, Seek is still the ost widely used site in many, if not most, industries over here.

If you are going to advise people not to use it, the least you could do is suggest an viable alternative.

I'm not advising anything I'm stating something I know to be true. I have used it (seek)myself in the past. At the same time an organisation I was employed in at a senior level, used it as policy dictated external recruitment must be sought, with mostly little intention of doing so, as recruitment was mostly internal or by personal recommendation.
The piles of CV's submitted barely got a glance at.....just saying....
