Default Job Offer - Brisbane

I am going to be meeting up with a potential employer coming over to the U.K. next week. He has given web address for housing in Brisbane (Acacia Ridge) and all 'looks' terrific! Anyone out there know much about this area in Brisbane or surrounding areas? Don't want to get hopes up too much in case it's a dive or perhaps there is a better place nearby?

Hi austensue,

Came back from Brissie 3 weeks ago.

We were very impressed with Albany Creek, Eaton Hills and Ferny Hills. My brother in laws Uncle lives up the rd in Bunya (lovely for Acreage) so we were able to learn alot about the facilities and where to live in Brisbane (also where to avoid!).

a good website to check out is www.qld.realnet.com.au and realestate.com.au (I registered with the later you put in area, price range, bedrooms etc and they email you pics and info everytime one comes up!).

Also the schools are good around those above areas with pony clubs, good stores and leisure centre.

Hope that will help

Sorry Paulf,

We didn't, we were reccomended twenty mins north or north west of Brisbane but not south or east.

Not to say anything further north isn't good, property gets cheaper (until you get on the sunshine coast) because it's more "out in the sticks" with the kids and everything and hopefully work in the city we didn't want to be too far out of it.

Default Brisbane

South Brisbane is becoming increasingly developed which is starting to reduce its appeal. It seems that the Qld government have pretty much earmarked the large corridor of land either side of the motorway between Brisbane and the Gold Coat for residential development. There are new housing estates springing up all the time, and the much muted plan to develop a tunnel under the river from the southside into the city gives an indication of the projected increase in traffic volume.

But, south of the city does seem better serviced in terms of a rail link to the city (much better than sitting in a slow moving traffic jam down the motorway), and is close (40 mins tops) to the Gold Coat and everything that has to offer. The Tamborine area is very picturesque, havent been to Nerang yet so cant comment.
