Job Hunting Perth
 
Hi
Coming to Perth Feb with OH. Shes got a job as a nurse, I`ve worked in a steelworks in the Uk same firm 32 years finally got guts to get parole. Been applying for jobs on S EEk! no joy yet, I understand there is alot of mining industry in Perth, anybody got any info on other industries suitably steel orientated but after 32 yrs p***ed off with it . Suppose I`ll look when I get there

You're best waiting until you arrive before looking for work. Most employers are not interested in someone who doesn't live here yet. They can't interview you or get you started in work until you are actually here.

Agreed. There are lots of jobs in connection with mining around steel fabrication and construction with all the expansions going on. Most are shifts like 4 weeks on, 1 off on contract but the money is fantastic.

Agreed - no one will look at you until you are "in-country". Then I think you will have no problems getting work at all.

There are also plenty of Perth-based steelwork jobs which would be a standard 45 hour week with overtime.
