If you hit Australia in summer and the sun is shining, the shear heat and sun helps you keep awake all day too.

We left Manchester at 10 in the morning and arrived at Singapore at about 6am local time. We got ourselves a room in the transit hotel (highly recommended by the way) and slept for about 7 hours before getting on the flight to Sydney which arrived at 6 in the morning.
I was determined to get back to normal quickly but still found myself waking up at 2 in the morning. I made myself stay in the bed eventually dropping off again but when it came to 8 in the morning I could barely open my eyes. I would say it took me a good week to get somewhere to near normal.

How long will it take to get back into a normal routine ie up early in the morning etc.
Depends on the individual. I hardly had any because I'd tried to get into Oz time on the flight over. We arrived at 630am on Sunday, we had a little nap for about 2-3 hours then got up ready to face the world

Long time ago now but I remember feeling completely "out of it" for a good 48 hours! Kids seem to be more resilant than I was, according to the experts it takes an hour a day to adjust to the different time zone, so in theory it shoud take roughly 8 - 9 days to completely adjust. Having said that my son flew from Sydney to the States and back last year and had no side effects what so ever, again the "experts" say flying "backwards" time wise is easier than forwards!!!!
