Well Sydney harbour looked really great on the News , l've never been to Sydney but seeing that made be want to go,l guess if the news footage is shown around the world it could boost tourism.

The local newspapers, radio, TV, media, public, Qld newspaper all dedicated huge quantities of media time to slagging this girl and her family off when she set off on the trip. The same papers etc that are now doing jessica watson editions

So the entire thing to me comes across as about two faced

i take most of you have never sailed ?
travelling any distance is a sail boat is bloody hard work sailing solo is even harder and coming through the tasmin in 10mtr seas must have been nerve racking
i`m amazed how often we have the armchair experts on here who clearly dont have a clue and dont get off their arses to try anything

She obviously loves sailing, she came across as incredibly mature and level headed and she did what she said she wanted to, she sailed around the world. She wasn't out to win plaudits, or get in record books, she simply wanted to sail around the world and succeeded.
How anyone can knock any one for fulfilling a dream is beyond me. It can only be complete jealousy that she had a dream and got off her arse and carried it out, knowing the dangers.
It appears to be a perfect opportunity for the 'superior Brits' to moan about the failings of a 'colonial outpost'. Of course the British media would never have gone to such lengths had she been a Brit - no of course they wouldn't, bollox! Any country worth it's salt would praise her to the skies and the media would thump their chests and put it down to her (their) nationality.

Couldn't agree more. I'm amazed at how many of you appear to be knocking the girl for stuff that is outside her control. She didn't call herself a hero, in fact she pointed out to Rudd that she wasn't. She didn't call it Jessica Watson Day, she didn't ask for the major fanfare on arrival.
