Re: Jessica Watson
You have two stumbling blocks that stop you getting the point and making you look like a bit of an ill-tempered sourpuss.
1) a belief that someone or something being "newsworthy" makes them morally superior. Getting your mug on Channel 7 news is not an endorsement of your life and values (in fact, it usually means the opposite: you've been caught in some squalid little affair).
2) a total failure to recognise that some things are not newsworthy because they happen every day: doctors saving lives, Tamaras getting new cars, dogs biting men. Conversely to the above, just because you're not on the idiot lantern, it doesn't mean you're a bad person.

Ok,say J Watson cures cancer tommorow.
Can you,or any other media whores give her the same media exposure?
Can you,or any other media whores justify the overblown exposure on an insignificant situation?
Can you or any other media whore dare to retort on why this weekend there were road smash rescues of critical patients, surf life saving clubs?
Thats Ok ,they don't run to the media every time a life is saved, like a media whore HERO?

On your last statement which I do dare, you are wrong, there is surf rescue, bondi rescue, emergency, ICU, RPA the list goes on, all programmes dedicated to showing what our services do and how they save lives and I like to watch. Local TV covers news about local accidents and lives saved. Sometimes even big smashes that make world news. But sometimes for a few days they cover some exciting milestone of accomplishment which is happy and positive. News would be pretty dismal and boring if all it covered was macarbe stuff without any fun stuff.

I think you need therapy. You have so much anger in you I amazed you havent needed rescuing yourself.
