I've made the decision, what do I do next!
I am a qualified Nissan mechanic working for 6 years, 3 year apprenticeship, 3 years working as a technician. I am trying to contact Nissan garages in the Brisbane area to see if I can secure a job before I arrive. Have been up to the Oz expo in London and because of the cost of going through agents, I have decided to try and do it myself. Where do I post to find out where to start?

Start at www.immi.gov.au and read everything.
Your first job is to find out which visa you can apply for and then you need to get a skills assessment (for most visa's).
It's really difficult to get a job without an Australian address. You could be lucky but most employers want staff yesterday and if you have no work rights they either don't want to know or offer you a temporary visa.

You need to work out what visa you are going to apply for and then if needbe download the TRA forms - if you do have to do a TRA on your own, make sure you check it, check it again and another just in case as if you fail this part you don't get to go any further so put all the info you have and when you think you have put too much - add a bit more! It's not difficult just a lot of detail you wouldn't have dreamed of them needing and that goes for the main application too.
Good luck

if you did decide to use an agent, were using go matilda, they are brilliant, really quick with responses, and the cost was alot lower than I had budgeted for.
