Issues with TR if OH is Citizen
We're hoping to move over next year on a Spouse visa - OH is an Aussie. So I will have temporary residency for 2 years, before I hopefully become PR.
I'm just wondering what it will mean being TR? I know in terms of my job I would only be able to get a temporary position (if I want to work for QLD Gov't in a similar job to what I do in UK now) but what about other things? Eg if we wanted to buy a house and I was TR but OH is a Citizen, does that complicate things (would we be able to buy, would we get the first home buyers grant thing etc)? What about if we had a baby, would we get the baby grant thing? Just wondering which things we need to be aware of while I am TR and whether these things are affected at all by OH being a citizen? Thanks for any advice, and hope that ramble made sense..... |

Take a look at http://www.centrelink.gov.au Study would be a problem though, overseas fees most likely. |

Are you eligible for any of the skilled visas? This might be a better route if eligible.
For buying a house you should be ok to buy jointly: http://www.firb.gov.au As for baby bonus that should also be ok, as your OH is a citizen and so the child would be a citizen too. Take a look at http://www.centrelink.gov.au Study would be a problem though, overseas fees most likely. Thanks JAJ. |
