Issues to raise with AHC at Migrate

Hi Gang,

Should we try to pool issues to raise with the AHC at Migrate 2002. I'll be there on Fri and Sat with the Q&A session with AHC on Friday.

If anyone from the AHC watches this site, please, please, please could you bring this info with you

I hope to raise the following:
1. Will the AHC let us know how many visas still outstanding in each visa class and how many visa's left in this years quota.

2. Will the AHC be providing an update to the 20 month time quoted so far.

3. When can we begin to see this 20 month wait reducing significantly

4. There is a rumour that Adelaide is processing non-ITvisa'a submitted in Nov. Is this true and if yes, how is this possible?

Any more suggestions?

Nigel db

Hi,

We're not going to the show this year as we don't fancy making the trip down again. We'll wait and see if there is one in York as this is nearer to us.

Can't think of any more questions but answers to those you posted would be great!

Can't wait for their response!!

Thanks

Claire

Nigel.

It would also be interesting if you cold find out about the medical/police certs situation. Are they giving extensions and if so what sort of length are we looking at.

Perhaps you could also enquire as to what applications they are presently processing ie IT/Nurses etc.

I thought that the suggestion of everyone wearing a badge saying "living in limbo" was a great idea. It would be interesting to see how many people were at the show wearing them. At least you would be able to see you weren't the only one in the boat!! you could all go and stand in front of the AHC stand, lol.

Hope the show goes well and I look forward to hearing how you get on.

With regard to the frustration / confusion over processing times between London & Adelaide, you may be interested in the following info from this site:

http://www.iscah.com/newsletter44.htm

6) Processing times out of Adelaide
----------------------------------------------

Many of the visa classes that were previously applied at your local
Australia embassy/high commission are now applied for in Perth (business
applications, parents) and Adelaide (skilled visas). Adelaide have started
off well in their processing. The average time for skilled application for
Australian onshore graduates is from 5 to 18 weeks depending on which case
officer you get.

For offshore skilled visas (visa classes 136-139) the average processing
time is quoted as 12-15 months. However I spoke to them last week and they
have indicated that this period is quoted to ensure that they do not
receive a large amount of progress enquiries on cases that have not yet
been processed. It looks like processing times may be much closer to 9/10
months at the moment.

Unfortunately for the most part applications that have been lodged at
overseas posts will not be able to be transferred to Adelaide to be
processed. And so these ones (for example London in particular) may still
take the quoted time of 12-15 months.

All times are GMT. The time now is 11:41 am.
