ISP in OZ?

My ISP in Scotland was Telewest BB. I remember getting about 100Mb free web space that I used for a fishing website. Can anyone tell me the cheapest ISP in Oz that offers free web space to upload my website?
I have been with Smellstra for nearly a year and looking for something better.

I use aanet and get 60mbs of webspace with MySQL and PHP. Have a look at www.aanet.com.au .

Hiya Bondipom,

I notice that they are not for unlimited downloads, bo many people run foul of that?

I thinkmost of the UK ones are unlimited.

Yep but the webspace does have unlimited downloads and uploads. The problem with the ISPs with unlimited downloads is they can get overloaded during peak times. If you aren't a file sharer or heavy downloader 1 GB a month is sufficient for most people.

Sorry to hijack you thread but are Broadband prices in Oz much the same as the UK? and do you still have to sign up for 12 months?

Hello bubbles.

You can use Whirlpool to search for plans but unfortunately webspace is not one of the criteria in the search.
http://www.whirlpool.net.au/
Even so you can search on what else you want then look at the ISP results for the webspace info.

I use this TPG 1500 / 256 with 20gb monthly.
It's damned good and cheap.

Bix's suggestion to look on whirlpool is the best. The only thing I can say about aanet is their excess charges are cheap. $3 a GB for six months may help you find your actual usage.

I got out of TPG a couple of years ago. I do not know if they have upped their customer service and speeded up their network since. Someone I work with had an unlimited plan with internode but at $150 a month even he found it a bit steep.

There is often a special around that may not be listed on whirlpool. If you can set yourself a GB limit you would save a lot of money.

Re: ISP in OZ?

Oz internet is much more expensive than UK. Makes a change eh?

Why don`t you set up an account with a UK host for webspace. It may work out cheap enough, and you get the added bonus of having a permanent e-mail address if you buy one of them as well (about £5 for 2 years for a .co.uk address, which you then forward the mail to whichever isp you`re with).

How about this one: (although I dont know anything about them)
Tel.Pacific Smart Choice 512 at $49.95 /mo 512/128 - No Data limits
http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/bc-isp.cfm?id=73&s=1&p=3204

For webspace, I use http://www.solidinternet.com

Hey Soapy....

http://www.iinet.net.au/

Best ISP in Oz in my opinion.
Mega fast download speed, (I can download a 10 meg file in about 3 seconds).
20GB/month free downloads.
Full phone service including line rental.

All for just $49.95 per month.

Been with them for 2 years & wouldn't even think of moving to another ISP!

Excellent tech' support as well.
:D :D :D
