Invoices and Tax Invoices

Can anyone help. What is the difference between a tax invoice and a plain invoice and when would each be used?

It's very much the same as in the UK, a plain invoice can be almost anything, but a Tax Invoice must have the specified data on it; mainly the GST/ABN reg number, tax date, and specify the words "TAX INVOICE" :)
