That's a good question. A relative of mine moved his lot from Darwin to Canberra a fair while ago, and the cost was quite a few 000's of dollars. So I'd be prepared for a possible shock. However, more recent reports welcome.

If anyone is undecided about whether to move to Sydney or Melbourne, for example, it would seem a lot better to move personally but leave your stuff in storage in the UK until you make up your mind, rather than ship it and then have to move it again interstate.

We used a Removal company from the from Gold Coast, as a backloader, and I think it cost us just under $2,000.

We found them in the Sydney Yellow pages, advertising backloads to QLD.

The quote from Grace Brothers we got at the same time was about $4,000 !

we intentded on arriving at the GC from the start. but the job offer was in sydney. not having PR held us back from moving, but we have that now and can do what we really wanted from the start. i will miss sydney though. im glad we did sydney first, if we dont like the GC we can always come back here.
