Internet job sites
I have been having a look on the Australian job sites such as seek and
mycareer.com which are great to give an idea of what is out there and
I have seen a few jobs that would suit me to the ground.
I have never applied as I am in the process of trying to obtain the dreaded
TRA so I am nowhere near having the "visa enabeling you to work in Australia"
that appears at the bottom of every job add I've seen.
Has anyone out there responded to an add on any of these sites and got
anywhere even though they haven't got their visa, via employer sponsoship or
offer of employment?
Just a thought as I've seen a couple of crackers and I'm really tempted to
respond.
Cheers Scotty.

We've had our visa for around a year now and will be heading out to Aus in January. I've applied for one or two jobs on these sites and had no reply from them. All the companies that post jobs on these sites are recruitment agencies (or most of them anyway), they don't get paid untill you take the job so I've found that they don't really seem to be that interested in helping or responding to you until you are in a position to take a job relatively soon.
Just my experience might be wrong.
