Hi,
I mainly use Skype for ringing UK from Aus, but wondered if there were any better deals out there that people are using? I did have a Crazy John's calling card, which lasted ages, as since then I've tried a few, but $20 doesn't seem to last more than a couple of hours.
Can anyone recommend any? I picked up loads of leaflets at the post office (as I'm worried about googling this, and picking a random site - knowing my luck I'll be ripped off!). There are so many terms and conditions on these, connection fees, rounding off, based on 1 hour calls etc, I can't figure out which is best to go with. Best one seems to be Australian Telecom - but I'd feel more reassured if anyone's actually used these and found them good....
Cheers

Hi,
We bought an anytime phone card (it's actually just a receipt with numbers) from a petrol garage. We now just top it up $20 at a time, gives us around 1700mins worth of international calls. Not sure if this is the best deal or not. We also use skype and msn.
Cheers

Hi Karen,
We've been buying GPS cards from the Post Shop and they are great value for money and very easy to use.
They come in $10 or $20 and last for ages. You dial a 1300 number to access, and it tells you how many minutes' worth of call you have for the number you've dialled, whether it's UK landline or mobile or whatever.
( BTW Fancy coming over for a barbie this Saturday ? )

There's loads on here: http://www.ozprepaidcards.com.au/Search_Result.asp
I have ordered through the site and it was great. Just make sure that whichever card you use has no 'use by' date and if there is top up before it runs out so you don't lose any credit

I used to use Talk Tomato phone card..$10 for 500 mins.
But i am with Telstra and i pay 2cents per min for international calls. So if i am on the phone an hour to my mum it only costs me $1.20...better than fiddling around with those phone cards.

If I could get 2 cents a minute then I wouldn't bother with phone cards

Yep, have to admit I don't use them any more as it's only 2.9c with Optus and I can't be arsed either.

Sorry to bug you.... but how exactly did you get that?
I just looked on the website and I don't see anything along those lines.
http://www.telstra.com.au/homephones...pare_plans.htm
I see $1 for 10 minutes and $1.50 for 20 minutes depending on the plane (so $6 p/h or $4.50 p.h).
Did you have to make a special request or something?

I will be switching over really soon. I'm sick of dialing 30 or so digits just to call Canada. At least once I've made the switch it'll only be about 15! I call a lot too so it looks like the price should work out the same as my phone card (more or less anyway).
