Any advice on internal flights in Oz. Have found the Virgin Blue website, any others? Are they cheaper to organise before you go or can you turn up at Airport and book..................etc

Don't just turn up, you'd be very very lucky to get a seat. A lot of routes are booked out weeks in advance (as I know having spent most of yesterday on the phone trying to book flights for work!)

Webjet is the best place to start, you'll now know that Jetstar (Qantas subsidiary) and Virgin Blue are the "cheap" airlines.

Both regulalry have sales; I just scored four tickets to Carins for basically half price when Jetstar had their third birthday sale.

Airfares are set to get cheaper in Aus soon with Tiger Airways due to launch services based in MEL (with only 5 planes though) from October ths year. Virgin Blue ar thought to be considering launching a "budget" brand too

Just turn up, most interal flights ( I nearly typed infernal tights LOL) are half empty. There's no need to book, and I should know, I've been on 6, yes 6, internal flights already.

interesting, I'd have said the opposite although I'm usually flying 'business hours' rather than midday, and usually the virgin flights I'm on are full, or only have one or 2 seats.

One thing to bear in mind is that Virgin allocate certain numbers of seats at various pricing levels. So maybe 10 mega cheap, and then they are not at the 'premium times' and then the rest of the seats start to go up. Basically they want passengers to commit with their money as early as possible.

I rarely travel Qantas, but they seem to have more empty seats that Virgin.

This is a subject close to my heart. DON'T TOUCH JETSTAR!!!!!

I have been travelling from Newcastle to Brisbane for the last two months. So far, I have an amassed lateness in excess of thirty hours, two whole days stuck in airports and a near death experience due to a an extremist galla suicide squad.
