Interesting article on food shrinkage

Re: Interesting article on food shrinkage
That's funny because I've been telling my dad that frozen peas had gone up loads in the past 6 months - I'm not sure he believed me! Now there's the proof!

Re: Interesting article on food shrinkage
Some things - like Uncle Toby's Muesli Bars - have shrunk to electron-microscope size over the past ten years. The box is the same though - the sound of the rattle is different!
Someone in the indutry can probably confirm, but my impression is that grocery boxes conform to a modular sizing so the contents don't dictate the package size? More pertinently, Cascade Premium Light bottles have been reduced from 275cl to 230cl at the same price. The press release said it was "for customers' convenience: some find holding the bigger bottle too difficult". Who said humour was dead? |

Re: Interesting article on food shrinkage
Curly Wurlys are a quarter the size compared to 30 years ago... they are barely a mouthful now and when they were launched the advertising campaign actually emphasised how massive they were in comparision to other bars. I bet their comparative price hasn't come down though.:curse:
Shrinkage really annoys me. |
Re: Interesting article on food shrinkage
I remember wagon wheels being absolutely massive, you needed 2 hands to hold them.
Now they're gone in one bite  |
