I have been flat hunting for the last 2 months and from apersonal standpoint i find that article totally incorrect!! There is a huge glut of brand new flats and units up for grabs in inner Sydney and landlords are so desperate to let them they are offering all sorts of incentives from free foxtel, free aircon costs, removal fees paid etc.
I got me a brand new 2 bed 2 bathroom with ensuite apartment private security parking, pool, gym for $400pw and these are 10 a penny right now all over inner Sydney.

I am wondering if anyone can answer which are the better of the "Inner Suburbs" to live in Sydney? Been a long time since I lived there (2001) and lived out towards Macquarie Park then.

Cheers

The areas of Sydney that landlords are having trouble renting are mainly in the Sydney South area - around Zetland/Moore Park. There are some very large new apartment complexes in that area, and supply is definitely exceeding demand.

Apparantly some of the new apartments around Darling Harbour and Pyrmont suffer from the same problem.

Nice to hear that not EVERYONE thinks Sydney's a grotty, overpriced, unfriendly place.

I think the South Sydney area has a lot going for it - it's close to the city, eastern suburbs shopping and the beaches. It will be a good area to live in.

I dont bother answering these people who seem to be Sydney experts based on a few days holiday or a few weeks at a rellies house and havent seen sod all of the whole city and its surrounds, or lived and felt the community spirit that really does thrive here.
Of all my moves, this place has been the MOST welcoming. I live in one of the areas mentioned above and we have a free BBQ and drinks on Saturday in the park, including live jazz band. This is laid on every 3mths to welcome newcomers and get people to meet their neighbours.
Where else do you get to live in a central city location, with all its 24hr conveniences, easy access to everything you need, and have 6 great beaches all within 10 mins drive of home?
Love it, love it love it!!
