The only drawback with being an Indian applicant is that you're more likely to be asked to do your IELTS and get your univ transcripts mailed direct from your University. |

Originally posted by dex Nonsense! There are hundereds of Indian IT professionals who get through every year. From my experience, ACS does not care where you're from. The Commonwealth Government has measures in place to prevent discrimination within the civil service but I have no idea how effective they are. Good luck in your job hunting here as the good time in IT are gone. |

discrimination..
I worked in Australia for six months. I understand the racial discrimination part.
I remember a funny incident. I was returning home from work. I got down at the Pendil hill station. The station was empty. An angry couple walked past me shouting at each other. And for no apparent reason the guy shouted, "Bloody Indian bastards!". There was no Indian around. And I am sure I wasn’t sleeping with his wife! |

Racism in India
Racial and colour discrimination exist even in India. Dark skinned people are called names. Because an individual can't defend himself he would be helpless. Indians get together when there is discrimination from a larger group in other countries. I have heard some Indians in Australia, describe sri-lankans as 'black, ugly looking people'. North Indians and south Indians cannot get along well with each other. They have their own communities meetings in Australia.
Relatively, the Australians are better in many ways. It's not surprising that many Indians feel more comfortable living in Australia. |
