Independent skilled migration q.

Independent skilled migration q.
Hi. I am a bit confused on an issue.
I have calculated myself to have 120 points for skilled migration to Australia. But my de facto spouse (who will become my real spouse in the next year or so) does not fully meet the 'basic requirements' - she has a degree and is about to finish a teacher training qualification, but does not have a suitable amount work experience yet.
Is it mandatory for *both* applicants (on the same form) to have satisfied the basic reqs?
Thanks loads,
Steve.

Hi Steve,
No it's not mandatory for you both to fulfil the basic requirements. Only the main applicant must fulfil them and the partner should if the 5 extra points are needed for their skills etc.
We have applied under my partner's skills as I didn't have the mandatory work experience, so I haven't added anything to the application pointswise at all!
Good luck
Lisa
