Default Income-and-deductions/Visa/Citienship Costs

https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/I...ing_deductions

Overnight travel expenses

You can claim a deduction for travel expenses if your club requires you to travel away from your usual residence for one or more nights – for example, to play an interstate game. These expenses may include:
meals, accommodation and incidental expenses
car, air, bus, train, tram, ferry and taxi fares
bridge and road tolls
car parking
car-hire fees
visa application fees, but not passports.

It seems visa are tax deductible, anyone know this for sure?

Is the cost of applying for citizenship a tax deductible cost, does anyone know for sure?

Thanks for any feedback.

Seems like visa costs might be allowable deductions for professional football players whose club needs them to travel.

Are you a professional football player?

no. citizenship isn't tax deductible as this is talking about people who are required to get visas etc to leave Aus, as part of their job, and represent their company/club/country elsewhere. Its not talking about getting visas and citizenship to live here.

Huh?

You posted the link which related to professional football players:

https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/I...d-occupations/Professional-footballers---general-tax-guide/?page=4#Claiming_deductions

I'd have thought it was clear that the deduction would only apply to you if you were one, which is why I asked the question as I haven't a clue what you do for a living.
