Default Importing an older motorbike

House finally going through now so hoping to be in Brisbane for new year,
the shippers have no problems with taking my bike (1977 Z650 B1) but say i need to arrange it with the aussie dept. of transport first.
Has anyone done this & if so how difficult was it ?
Have looked on the aussie web sites & still a bit unclear as different rules apply for pre 1989 vehicles.

Regards John

Hi John...
I've just got approval for my (or should I say hubby's) Z650!! (very very non standard)

You need to get hold of Dotars and fill in a form.. Basically because your bike 15 years or older it shouldn't be a problem

http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/safety/road/bulletin/importing.aspx

All the info you need is on there.. you'll need a certified copy of the log book and a certified photo of yourself.. and that's it... Send off the form with your $50 and eventually you'll get a little letter back saying it's ok to import your bike!

Good luck - if you need any more info - just ask
Sonic

Cheers, did you have to provide a valuation?
