Wondering if anyone is able to help me on this situation ?
I have been sponsored by my company on a temp 457 business visa for 4 years. Having gone through almost the whole immigration process including x rays & medicals I have just found out that I am 6 weeks pregnant, and due to travel in 6 weeks. Can anyone tell me if the child gets automatic residancy or citizanship and how will having a child in Australia affect my PR claim ? Last but not least will I be covered for any medical expenses under public or private healthcare schemes. If not will having my child in Australia cost a fortune ?

Hi Vics,
On a temp visa the child will not be recognised as being Australian but will have your nationality.
Under these visas you do not qualify for Medicare the Australian version of our Nat Health but there is a reciprocal agreement with UK so I believe most costs are covered - but not all.

Post your question on the OZ/NZ forum as that has a larger audience and is especially for this type question.
Some very knowledgeable types will answer it on there.
