Immigration form question?
Would appreciated any advice on the following.
Sorry to be such a dimwit, but I've almost finished helping my brother with an Immigration form & have seriously overlooked one BIG point!
He's a self-employed joiner who intends to go travelling (S.America, NZ & Oz) in July, had originally heard that process takes about 6 months & had hoped it would all go through before then, now I'm thinking maybe not?
Questions are as follows:
-Work experience history: As a self employed sub-contractor, if he approaches his gaffer for a reference, as soon as work goues slack, it's gonna be "See Ya...."
Can this be got around (no payslips).
If not, could get a (probably decent, but difficult to know) reference from his boss.
If he is out of the country, I'm under the impression that he can't be in Australia at time of application, is this true?
Really, really wish we'd sat down with this paperwork months ago & given ourselves some more time, but that's my problem.
Is it realistically worth putting an application in?
Any specific advice would be great, cheers.

he really needs full referances describing all the jobs he has carried out in very fine detail

If in any doubt try contacting an agent for their advice.
Currently skilled independant visas are taking about 52 weeks to process, that excludes the period for having skills assessed

Re: Immigration form question?
It's quite common for them to come back asking for more information, and copies of documents etc.
Very difficult if you are a long way from home in the middle of the process!

Thanks for the advice.
Gonna have to sit down & give this some serious thought.
He's booked his flights for July to go travelling (1 year duration), so may have to have a rethink.
Thanks again to all who poster, much appreciated.
