Only discovered this site at the eleventh hour. Before that it was just checking austimeline for updates and getting despondant as everyone else around you gets their visa
Now I spread the word to every expat or wannabee that I know.

No doubt it will be very useful for completing the final stages though.

How would I fill the hours between 8.30am and 5pm while I'm at work??? What would I do???I don't have any work to do! I'd go mad!

Yup me also.
Had skills assessed, completed application, had visa granted and in passport before I even found this site.
Wish I had though as it would have saved me a few thousand £££ having to make a validation trip. But there you go - had a great holiday anyway

I must spend hours on the internet researching our move.
I've been able to look at schools/houses/areas plus
being able to ask this forum for help and advice.
I must say I might be panicing alot more if I hadn't been able to.
My parents went to Taiwan in the 1950s with 2 small children
and I must say I really think they were brave as back then
you couldn't even telephone Taiwan very easily let alone
anything else (and it was a 5 weeks boat trip to get there).
And since our move has come up I admire them even more
for the courage it must have taken.

Also when you get to the other end its invaluable for keeping in touch. I get daily e-mails from my friends, they really pick me up on tough days, waiting for the post (which is erratic) would be soul destroying if that was your only contact.
