If you were looking for a short term rental in Aus...
*how long before your arrival would you start organising it?
*how many weeks/months would you want to rent for?
*would you want it fully furnished, right down to bed linen, cutlery etc, or just big items like fridge/freezer, beds, washing machine, TV etc?
*how much extra a week (on top of fair market rent) would you be willing to pay for fully furnished?
*would you prefer electricity, water, phone, internet etc to be included or pay seperately for the utilities?
Thanks!

I personally consider short term to be a couple of weeks, four at the most and therefore I'd expect it to be fully furnished. Along the lines of holiday lets so the leccy, water etc should be nothing to do with the renter. As for when to book it, I'd do it at the same time as booking the flights.

Arrival accommodation is more like a holiday let, so I would just expect to be a nightly / weekly rate and no extras. We booked for five weeks.

Thanks for the replies so far.
So, would you be more likely source a rental from the 'classifieds' on a site like this one, or from somewhere like Stayz, or both, or neither?
Thanks.

So BB, do you get plenty of enquiries just from people looking at your sig? I guess if you post a lot it gets it out there.

Seems to work for a lot of people on here
I really like Redcliffe, got Aussie and expat friends up there with small kids and they reckon it ticks all the boxes for them
Oh - and welcome to BE, by the way!!!!

We've spent a few days up at Redcliffe for the dance eisteddfod over the last week. One day just my eldest and I went up - she only had one dance so we went to the shopping centre on the way back because we were running ahead of schedule. The kid can't remember having ever been there and was in awe of the locals, she didn't want to eat at the food hall in case she got food poisoning or in the case of the line at Macca's, didn't want to start looking like others who were lining up. She was also worried we'd get mugged in the carpark and made me lock the car doors as soon as we got in to eat our food.

Did you have any answers to my original questions by the way?

Yes, Redcliffe and surrounding areas are great for small kids

Sorry I didn't have an answer to your original question but the longer you're on here, you'll notice that threads quite often stray from the original subject quite easily.
When we've moved in the past, we usually organise to stay with friends or a serviced apartment initially and then find a rental as quickly as we possible if that's any help.
