Yep, cheaper than Perth and perhaps more 'upside potential'. Are you familiar with Central Equity? They do a lot of inner city/Docklands apartments, townhouses etc. Perhaps you are looking though at a suburban house?

I was hoping that we could keep it a secret before everything gets too expensive !!

I can see a lot of potential in Melbourne & outskirts for the investors. Prices are not really rising, but interest in Melbourne is. Definitely worth looking at looking at for investing more long term than short term.

My dollars are being invested in Vic soil when I (eventually) get my arse out there.

Melbourne is 3rd or 4th on the list of cities for Migrants, the people that are moving here are mostly Australian residents. We seem to be getting a hell of a lot from Q'land lately.

Those that moved in the last 8 years or so heading back?

I saw this article and was a bit surprised by the numbers to be honest.

Maybe, I think it could be something to do with the Labour market here. It does seem easy to get a job at present. Albeit just basic work. We have been short of parttime staff at the post office for about 2 years now.

Thanks for that. I have been looking at Legoland houses, 20 minutes west and 40 minutes east of the CBD. West looks good as better public transport links. Although I love it here in Perth and believe that the potential of this place has not even begun, cities like Melbourne and Sydney are never really going to 'fail'. They are too big, too rich, will always attract new people etc to 'fail'.

Agree. I'll start with 1 and hopefully build up from there. I'm also looking at Legoland houses in Brisbane/SE Qld. Thought about Adelaide. Cheap houses but it is the only major city in Australia where the population is falling, so will give it a miss.
