As if flies and magpies aren't bad enough.....
Saw a chap on a bicycle this morning a little way ahead of my car, he started wobbling and thrashing his arms about, then turned around and peddled madly back the way he had come. As I drove past the spot I saw what had troubled him, a swarm of bees! And there we all are, worrying about the odd tinsy-winsy spider! I do hope that poor chap was ok. A few weeks back, the kids living over the road told us they had a beehive in their postbox. I always put my hand in the postbox carefully when collecting the mail, you never know what might be lurking in there!
At school last year, a wasp entered my daughter's classroom. The class had to evacuate and a number of other teachers arrived to deal with "the situation". The Ozzies seem to panic more about wasps and bees than the Brits. Or is there something I haven't been told yet, like some deadly mega-bee or wasp variety? I believe the statistics show that more people are killed here each year by wasps/bees than snakes/spiders.

Spider alert here today too. Apparently lots of red backs got a bit hot today at at least two of our local schools & started crawling out of gutters & off the roof. One school called in pest control and one had the deputy head running round with a can of bug spray!

On a more serious note....might have to do a bit of research ! I did'nt know aus even had stinging bees. The native australian bees don't have a sting, so they must be an import i guess. Sound nasty whatever they are :scared:
