Default IELTS Test

Hi, I was wondering whether IELTS test for Academic instead of General Training can be accepted for application of Work Visa 457 or Skilled Migrant visa? The reason I'm asking this is because I hope to sit for the test ASAP but the IELTS test for General Training in the place I live in is not available until Feb 2017 while the earliest date for the test for Academic is available on several dates in January 2017.

Thank you and I wish everyone a very great new year ahead.

Maybe I have posted at a wrong place so no reply received so far. Could administrator help move my question to appropriate section? Thank you.

Please note that the Australians had their New Year many hours ago, and many will still be in bed, hungover etc. so please be a little patient.

Thank you xizzles for the link and happy new year to you too.

After reading more info from Australian government website, I found out that I may be exempted from taking any English proficiency test considering that I'm a professional whose salary may exceed the minimum salary level that entitles me for the exemption. Here is the link (see page 40).
