Post Of The Day.

I have no idea what the 'easiest, safest, quietest, leafiest, non-racist ' Uni is but I wish you luck

You can walk around Brisbane at 3pm and nothing will happen, it's just an option ...

Bad English excused

Look up each of those unis on their websites and search for security. I know of 2 unis in Perth that have a service where you can ring security to escort you to your car. If you want to be on-campus at 3.00 am, I can't imagine that you would want to travel by public transport. You can always apply for student accommodation on the campus if they have it, and get the security guy to escort you there. Or get a laptop and work from your on-campus room via wireless connection.

The only uni I've been to on your list is UWS at Milperra - not to study but for an appointment. However, I enjoyed walking around there, having lunch and it seemed like a happy place. UWS has different locations around Sydney though.

I did a BA at UNSW and I never had any problems walking around late at night.

Most uni's in Sydney are full of overseas students and of course, Australian students themselves have family backgrounds from all over the World.

Sydney is a big city and big cities all have problems but please do not be scared to come here and study.

First Born is at Griffith and it's quite 'green'. It's as safe and non racist as you can be having a few thousand human beings from all walks of life studying there. There's stacks of lovely 'environment' and whilst the centre of the GC is busy, it's a small area and the vast majority of the 'city' is lovely.

As for the 'extremely hard' bit. That's impossible. If you're studying to be a doctor then the educational levels would be impossible for someone doing 'English'. If you're studying a subject because you like the subject and presumably good at it you will be studying at Uni level, it's supposed to be hard, until you finish when you realise it was quite easy. No point in learning things you already know. Degree level is degree level, it's up to you how difficult you make it for yourself.

Why did you apply to an Australian uni then? Sounds like you haven't really thought this through. If it were me I would have researched it first thoroughly then decided if I wanted to study in Oz.

I want a place where I can feel safe, I can walk at 3 am and nothing happen to me
Why are you walking about at 3am?

I want a place there is no racist going on
Sorry ain't gonna happen. You will probably encounter no racism at all but to look for a place where there is no racism at all does not exist, not just in Australia but anywhere in the World.

I don't like city place where the crowdy and the noise. I like a quiet place. I like the environment to be wonderful , beautiful sense, river or something like that , nice gardens
Check out the websites for the unis you've highlighted. They usually tell you about the campuses. Then look at Google maps and research the suburbs close to the campuses where you will likely be staying.

I don't want a university where is the education is extremely hard
I'd guess something might be lost in translation here but in case not. Don't go to university then. Studying at uni is hard, it's meant to be. If it weren't then everyone would have a degree!

Do not think the places where these unis are could offer you the things you are looking for.

Crime happens in Aus
Racism happens in Aus
I would not walk around at 3 am in the morning

Its 2011 and things are different these days and its a jungle out there.

Eldest two go to University of Western Sydney - but like most universities, they have quite a few campuses so it depends which one you'd be studying at.

Eldest is doing engineering at the Kingswood/Penrith campus - there are lots of nationalities there, the campus itself is set on a huge green area, its all very pleasant. I wouldn't want to be walking around it at 3am though.

I wouldn't want to be walking anywhere at 3am by myself!

Middlechild is doing IT - he's at UWSCollege in Quakers Hill at present and will go to Kingswood next year when he starts his degree. I have my doubts about him walking around there at 9pm. To be honest, I have my doubts about him walking around there at 9am too.

As for easy/hard - that's impossible to comment on. Eldest is very good at maths and science based subjects and finds it all quite straight forward. Middlechild is doing a diploma and is also good at maths and science based subjects and is finding it quite easy. I have no idea what environmental engineering would require from a student.

The only advice I can give is in regard to walking the streets at 3am.Don't worry it's not to crowdy at that time of the morning but as an added safety measure wear a high visibility vest and carry a couple of witches hats"safety cones" If any dodgy racist bashing types approach you can tell them that your part of a road crew and if there is going to be any funny business you only have to shout and lots of your Aussie mates will come running jolly quickly.
University?don't go to Knocks. It's extremely hard!

You need to keep yourself safe if you are a female and walk around at 3am on your own your putting yourself in danger it's much safer to call a cab or stay with a group of friends. I would avoid using campus security to escort you home it's not any safer. Unfortunatly some people take these types of jobs for the wrong reasons. I always feel safer walking in a crowded place than in a quieter treed area at night by a river ... In fact that would just give me the heebie jeebies!
