I have no skills!!!
Hello everyone, I am a 28 year old beer salesman, who returned from 12months in Oz with my girlfriend last year. We are both desperate to go back out there for good - and eventually start a family - we want a better quality of life.
We are both graduates, under 30, not married (yet) and with no dependents, yet it seems because we don't have a trade or rellies we are stuffed?!!?
Please does anyone have any ideas. We do have a fair bit of equity in our house, could that help in some way.
Apologies if this is going over old ground, any suggestions would be most welcome.

welcome to BE, you say you are both graduates what are you graduates in? have you had a look at the Australians Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
http://www.workpermit.com/australia/...ation_list.htm
or the Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL)
http://www.australia-migration.com/page/MODL/58
These advice the current jobs that australia are currently needing and to apply for this type of visa you have to be in one of these professions, there are certain criterias such as having worked in that job for so long and so forth have a look at the websites to see if you may qualify to apply as a skilled independent worker. My hubby is accountant and we are applying through the fact he has degree and experience in this area.
Best of Luck

Re: I have no skills!!!
Thanks for the links. I have a psychology degree, while my girlfriend has an English degree. I am a salesman, but only for beer (not specialist enough it would seem). Whilst Ruth works in recruitment (last 6 months), then marketing before that.
From the list it looks like we don't get any points! Any other tips, we have contemplated doing a 12months work visa trip to NZ and trying to gain residency there, then eventually switch to Oz would that work??

I would think if you have equity and are sure it's what you want, a buisness visa would be a option.
Try looking at franchises for sale, Zaraffa Coffee, Subway etc.
there are other franchises such as handyman, cleaning, you really need to consult an agent and find out your options for getting in, they know all the tricks and may even get you through with what you already have, try George Lombard or Alan Collet on this forum do a search for agents, and good luck.

Not really. New Zealand residents have no special rights in Australia. It takes 5 years to get NZ citizenship. And even New Zealand citizens have only limited rights in Australia compared to Australian permanent residents.
And it's not necessarily easy to migrate to NZ either.
