I.E.L.T.S. Who should score how much
Hi,
I am new to this forum. I am planning to apply for migration under the Australian skilled sponsored category. My wife's aunt is going to sponsor us whereas my qualifications are assessed. Now I would like to know whether it is me whose skills were assessed by Vetassess needs to score a band of 6 in all components or is it my wife who is going to fill in the form 47SK as the main applicant as she is related to the sponsor needs to score 6 in all the components. There is a big confusion regarding this matter. Any advice on this matter would be highly appreciated.
Thanking you,
John2

You (ie the one with skills assessed) need to meet the basic IELTS requirement, which
is a miniumum score of 5.0. A minimum score of 6.0 gets you 5 extra points.
However, your wife may need to do the IELTS test too, and achieve an average score of
4.5. This would be to avoid the second instalment of the visa application fee of
A$2380 - although this does pay for English tuition once in Australia.
Depending on what country you have lived and were educated in, you may not need to
sit the IELTS if you are clearly from an English speaking background.
