right, fair dinkum .. no worries, she'll be right .. oath mate!

Nope it doesn't work.

Don't worry, I'm just practicing. I am now a dual citizen, well, I have to wait for the "hoity toity" ceremony first, but I have been accepted for citizenship (that was quick!.. I didn't expect to hear from them for months) ... geeze they take anyone here, they must be very hard up

Pauline love I can help you now.. we'll change the policies - we must stop these pommie immigrants descending on these shores.. they are forming ghetto's called " expat clubs" . This is not the Australian way!

cheers, ahem, I mean ... sees yous laters.

P.S seriously though , that's one step out of my way (I don't believe in burning bridges) for my future departure of "Awstralia"

Hard-up for citizens ?
I think you may be right Ceri. I have even seen oz government banner ads on some web pages designed to get perm residents to become citizens !!!! Maybe it has something to do with the forced voting system here ?

When I got the PR label evidenced the woman started going on to me about citizenship like a car salesman. There are adverts on TV and one day a year they do mass citizenship ceremonies.

Ceri did you swear allegiance to the Queen?

Whats going on here boatloads are shippin' back to UKers, wonder if it has something to do with the dollar being worth more than a brass razoo (jeez I cant speak it either) at the moment.

Anyway Pauline and I wish you all the best, could we whip up a Pav for the ceremony or something

Now you can sing at the cricket...

Fellas all let us get pissed, and celebrate vic-tor-eee
we slapped those english fools again, for sending us to be
sunburnt bitten frozen and boiled, in the land so far away
but this place is home to us, and jason donovan's gay
with upturned thumbs we salute our boys, boonie! boonie! booonieeeeee!

Now boonie may have had his day
but jason donovan still is gay.

Do I have to wear Yellow? lol (no it's not gold - it's yellow!)

BP - I have not been to the ceremony yet, I've been accepted, next step is they send me a date for the ceremony.. where I collect a certificate, where I swear an oath on Australia (I don't think I have to swear on the queen - I haven't got my "Aus is great pack" (citizen pack) on me at the moment, but it's got the oath in there), but if it's swearing they want - I'm their girl ..lol

Dotty only if the pav is in your finest tupperware , only the best will do.

cheers

Congrats.

Makes life easier when travelling between the two great lands - passports that is!

I still cheer on Man Utd/England/UK/Britain (depends who plays), hard to go for Aussies. I am keeping my red and whites!

OK the cricket song was a bit of a gag...

Now...This Is Serious Mum, so I'll give you the sacred aussie oracle given to every native male aussie at birth...

If it's different, punch
It it's lager, lunch
If it moves, root
If it quacks, shoot
If it's mates, protect
If it's wife, neglect
If it's wages, bet
If it vicious, pet
If it's American, ape
If it's a blonde, gape
If it's boobs, inflate
If it's V8, venerate
If it's sport, booze
If it's licence, lose
If it's engine, thrash
If it's buttcrack, flash
If it's boys, larin'
If it's women, no swearin'
If it's the footy trip, anaesthesia
If it's back home, amnesia
If it's party, newted
If it's bedroom, putrid
If it's foreplay, forgotten
If it's rockin', don't bother knockin'
If it's a party, fight
If it's winning, skite
If it's politics, right
If it's flatulence, light
If it's tabloid, believe it
If it's broadsheet, don't read it
If it's music, rock
If it's casino, flock

Dont forget to learn the lines of the National anthem, "Australians all love ostriches". We had to sing it, quite embarassing when you didn't even know what it was let alone the words. Plus my husband was in the front row, pissing himself laughing.

I think there was some box to tick about the Queen, you had an option I think, like when you get married you tick whether to Obey or not.

You swear on god ... there is an option for that, you can drop the god bit or not - I ticked the god bit (when I first submitted the forms) as I don't believe in god - therefore making the pledge to my own mind - null and void
Another line to the anthem - we are young and gay ( we are young and free) .. sorry, the hardest part for me, like you said , it will be to keep a straight face

no offence to real Australians - but what a load of "ceremonial b*llux" .. next I'll be joining the " rotary club" .. put a wig , moustache on, and talk down to the women - get and make my dinner, you should be grateful we perv at you

cheers

P.s I don't know the marriage vows - as Hubby and I are living in perfect sin (de-facto for about 12 years)

You could always change it slightly...

Have a look on form 990 on www.immi.gov.au/allforms and you would be surprised if DIMIA made a loss.

It is $120 for an RRV and $120 for citizenship so there is little between them in the short run. If you do get citizenship then you will need an Aussie passport which is another 140 - 150 .

I'd cheerfully pay it right now, and in cash!
